Santa Barbara Mountain Communities Defensible Space Plan

PaintedCaveCommunity.jpg

The Los Padres National Forest (LPNF) undertook a planning effort to identify, prioritize and plan a series of fire prevention and mitigation activities to reduce the risk of wildfire to mountain communities including West Camino Cielo, Painted Cave and Rosario Park. The plan underwent an exhaustive review and was modified with environmental group input. It is permitted and ready to implement, but staffing changes within LPNF put the plan in limbo. The RPP team recommends engaging LPNF to activate that plan and mobilizing whatever capacity support LPNF may need to apply for funding and implement the plan.
