Lompoc Fire Station Upgrades

In addition to lacking a CWPP, the City of Lompoc's main fire station is structurally unsound and in need of significant upgrades. The station houses equipment and personnel that serve the area, and the building's known structural issues create significant vulnerability concerns in the event of an earthquake. Previous grant applications for funds to upgrade the fire station were not received, thus this is a critical issue of importance. Lompoc serves a disproportionately high segment of underserved community members, such as farmworkers. Obtaining funding to implement upgrades that can be completed in a timely fashion is a high priority project that should be immediately addressed.

Status: Seeking Funding

Cost: High

Permitting: Structural improvements may require building permits and must be coordinated through appropriate agencies.

Funding Sources: TBD

Additional Notes: This need should be reflected in the Citygate report that addresses structural needs in the County. Cities must be able functionally coordinate with County personnel in the event of a fire or earthquake.
